MEET LESLIE

Leslie candid (1).JPG

Leslie was born and raised in Albemarle County and graduated from Charlottesville High School. She then attended Virginia State University in Petersburg and earned her degree in sociology. After completing the Army ROTC program, she commissioned in the U.S. Army Reserves and began her career of public service. From her time as a probation and parole officer to her work with the Region Ten Community Service Board as the Family Treatment Court coordinator, Leslie's career is defined by service to those in need. Leslie has seen firsthand how a quality education — or lack thereof — can change the trajectory of someone's life, especially individuals who come from disadvantaged communities. She is committed to ensuring that all kids in Albemarle County have access to a high-quality, inclusive education that prepares them for whatever path they choose in life, whether that's higher education, trade school, or entering the workforce. That's why she was honored to be appointed to fill a vacancy on the Albemarle County School Board after the tragic passing of Chuck Pace  — and it's why she's now running for a full term.

Outside of her public service efforts, Leslie enjoys many sports, including football, basketball, track, tennis, and swimming. She is active in several church roles. She also enjoys baking and being in the kitchen.
